Habits of Prayer - Lesson 4
As we start this New Year we remind ourselves that our strong desire at ICB is to 'seek together to learn what it means to be wholehearted followers of Jesus'. In pursuit of this desire we turn our attention to our habits of prayer. Rooted in Matthew 6:5-13, we take time in this 4 week series to contemplate Scripture and share ideas, resources and tools to help each of us develop lives that are characterized and informed by prayer.
Lesson 4 invites us to observe the final 3 requests given by Jesus in His model prayer - 'Give us today our daily bread'; 'forgive us our debts'; and 'lead us not into temptation'. By inviting us to offer these requests to God, Jesus is anticipating that we will have struggles in this life with 1) daily necessities; 2) relationships; 3) temptation to sin. These final, beautiful requests then may be seen as prayer for wholeness of life!
