acts 2:42-47

The early church devoted itself to these four things:
  1. The apostles' teaching. We can do the same on an individual level and on a corporate level.
  2. Fellowship. Not isolation. Are we walking alongside other believers? Growing in Christ is a group project. We need each other.
  3. Breaking bread. The early church brought others to the table.
  4. Prayer. Jesus taught us to pray using communal language. We should be praying together.

3 outcomes of their devotion:
  1. Praise to God. God is the primary audience in the church, not us the congregation.
  2. Favor with people. The church's love was attractive to those around them.
  3. God added to their numbers. New citizens entered the kingdom.

Questions for Personal Reflection or Group Discussion:
  1. Which practice of the church in Acts 2 do we as a church in the 21st century do well? What about the local church that you are a part of?
  2. Which practice of the church in Acts 2 do we as a church in the 21st century not do so well? What about the local church that you are a part of?
  3. When was the last time you felt like you connected with a fellow member of the body of Christ on a deep level, either through prayer, in fellowship, or in the word?
