Responding to the Story of the Persistent Widow in Luke 18:1-8 from March 10 2013

It is not often that Luke tells why Jesus told a parable to his disciples; yet in Luke 18, we read, “Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up” (Luke 18:1).  The parable speaks of a widow advocating for justice against her adversary before an unjust judge.  Jesus goes on to say that if an unjust judge finally offers justice, how
much more God will bring forth justice.  The story has so much to say about God’s passion for justice; it has so much to say to God’s children about how to pray for an advocate for God’s
justice in God’s world.  What thoughts do you have from our study of this important parable?
